INSTALL adds two new members to committee

1/6/2008

Two flooring company presidents, one from the east and one from the Midwest, are the newest members of an international committee charged with increasing the skill of flooring installers. The new members are Michael Gould, President of Gould Flooring Services, Inc., of Highland, Illinois, and Jamie Gilmore, President of Pavilion Floors in Boston, Mass.

Gould, a near four-decade veteran in the floor covering industry, opened his company in 1995. In addition to his work with INSTALL, he also is president of the Flooring Industry Council of Greater St. Louis. “INSTALL is a great program for union members and contractors alike, based primarily on the United Brotherhood of Carpenters’ commitment to see all union members complete the INSTALL certification.” Gilmore has been in the floor covering business since 1985. He also is a member and director of the Northeast Flooring Contractors Association. “Promoting and endorsing the INSTALL program affirms Pavilion’s commitment to its clients, as well as its employees, to being the premier full service contract flooring company in the northeast region. With INSTALL’s clear and standardized set of verifiable skills for our craftsmen, consistent with our many manufacturer suppliers, Pavilion is more efficient and reliable in all aspects of our dealings with our clients as compared to those firms who tend to overlook accountability in their dealings in the market place,” Gilmore said.

The International Labor-Management Committee for the Floor Covering Industry is affiliated with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. The Committee oversees an ongoing initiative to increase the quality and professionalism of floor covering installers through a program called INSTALL (International Standards and Training Alliance).
